President Libby Meets Stetson Sprints

Men's Rowing Stetson University

President Libby Meets Stetson Sprints

Stetson Rowing won 5 gold, 2 silver, and 3 bronze in a soggy event --worthy of the stalwart.  Stetson lightweight women's eight took a bronze medal rowing against a strong field of open weight eights.  Caitlin Burke, rowing seven in the women's lightweight said, "We rowed well!"

Dr. Libby graced the crew with a visit sporting a cheerful smile and cowboy boots to ward off the chill.

Other highlights include Stetson men's pairs of Scott Pearson and Bill Brady, and Gary Marra and Joshua Mena taking gold and silver.

The Stetson novice men's four took a gold, with the lightweight men's and women's crews both taking gold.

Against wind and a penetrating chill, the University of Florida, Central Florida, Florida State, Embry-Riddle, University of South Florida, Barry, and the University of Tampa all competed to the end completing an exciting day of races.

High schools crews:  Berkeley Prep, Savanna Country Day and Tampa Catholic called it an early day leaving the inclement weather to the collegiate crews to bear.

The Stetson Crew travels to Jacksonville to compete against JU and Emory on March 13th.
