Nashville, Tenn. - The Stetson women's tennis team (10-5, 3-2 Atlantic Sun) began its weekend in Nashville with a 7-0 sweep of host Belmont (3-9, 0-5 A-Sun) on Friday. All six Hatters won singles and doubles matches; freshman Carolina de los Santos (Montevideo, Uruguay) won her singles match 6-0, 6-0.
De los Santos did not drop a single game to Laura Stack at the top of the lineup while senior countrywoman Valentina Galbarini nearly did the same at #2 singles to Abby Leatherwood, winning 6-0, 6-1. Stetson senior Katherine Nowicki (Jacksonville, Fla.) also won her #6 singles match with one perfect set, beating Lauren Irick 6-3, 6-0.
Galbarini and de los Santos, the nation's 59th-ranked doubles duo, continued their winning ways with an 8-2 win over Leatherwood and Stack at the top of the doubles lineup. The Hatters picked up a clean sweep of all three doubles matches.
Stetson concludes its road trip tomorrow morning, taking on Lipscomb at 10 a.m. CT (11 a.m. ET) in Nashville, Tenn.
