DeLand, Fla. - Five Hatters were double winners to lead the Stetson women's tennis team (12-5) to its third consecutive shutout victory, a 7-0 takedown of Murray State on Wednesday afternoon at the Mandy Stoll Tennis Center.
All three doubles matches went to the Hatters, including an 8-5 win for nationally 59th-ranked senior Valentina Galbarini (Montevideo, Uruguay) and freshman Carolina de los Santos (Montevideo, Uruguay) over Angela McGahee and Lindsey Wiseman at #1 doubles.
When the stage shifted to singles, Stetson rolled to five straight-set victories in a row to wrap up the match. Sophomore Shannon Gunning (Boca Raton, Fla.) put a bow on the proceedings by outlasting Lyndsay Ottosen in the third set to clinch the shutout.
Stetson is back in action tomorrow at noon, hosting Kennesaw State in the first half of an A-Sun doubleheader at the Mandy Stoll Tennis Center. The Hatter-Owl men's match is slated for 4 p.m.
