DeLand, Fla. - The Stetson women's tennis team improved to 13-5 on the season and 5-2 in Atlantic Sun Conference play with a 6-1 win over visiting Kennesaw State (8-10, 1-6 A-Sun) Thursday afternoon at the Mandy Stoll Tennis Center. Five players were double winners for the Hatters, who have won four straight matches overall.
Stetson cleaned out the Owls in all three doubles matches by ascending 8-1, 8-2 and 8-3 scores, culminated by 59th-ranked Valentina Galbarini (Montevideo, Uruguay) and Carolina de los Santos (Montevideo, Uruguay) beating Ayano Tanaka and Vera Shkundina at #1 doubles. The South American pair has won six consecutive outings.
Junior Unnati Purushotham (Hyderabad, India) extended her singles winning streak to eight in a row and improved to 14-4 on the season (6-1 in the A-Sun) as she swept Iesha Holton 6-3, 6-0 at #4 singles. Galbarini nearly blanked Tanaka in the match in a 6-1, 6-0 victory at the #2 position; de los Santos and sophomore Shannon Gunning (Boca Raton, Fla.) also earned straight-set victories for the Hatters.

This will be the final match at the Mandy Stoll Tennis Center before the A-Sun tournament for the senior quintet of Galbarini, Breanna Atkinson (Bradenton, Fla.), Natalie Gorham (Miami, Fla.), Katherine Nowicki (Jacksonville, Fla.) and Daniella Palmiotto (Boca Raton, Fla.).
