Orlando, Fla. - The Stetson women's tennis team (17-6) saw its eight-match winning streak come to an end with a 5-2 loss at UCF (11-5) in its final competition of the regular season. Junior Unnati Purushotham (Hyderabad, India), the current Atlantic Sun Conference Player of the Week, earned singles and doubles wins for the Hatters.
Purushotham teamed with sophomore Shannon Gunning (Boca Raton, Fla.) for an 8-2 win over Christy Core and Katie Orletsky at #2 doubles that ran the Hatter duo's record to 19-2 on the season. In singles play, Purushotham defeated Jenna Doerfler 6-3, 6-1 in the #4 slot to give Stetson one of its only two points of the day. Freshman Carolina de los Santos (Montevideo, Uruguay) was the other singles winner, beating Jenny Frisell in a third-set tiebreaker at the top of the lineup.
