Tallahassee, Fla. - Sunday afternoon in Tallahassee Stetson (2-2-0) fell 6-0 to Florida State, the 6th ranked team in the nation. The Seminoles (3-0-0) jumped out to a three-goal lead in the first half and then equaled the effort in the second period. FSU is now 7-0-0 all-time against Stetson.
"It was a disappointing day for the team", said Stetson head coach Julie Orlowski. "My hope is that we learn from this experience and that the team starts believing in each other and ourselves like I believe in them."
Although a tough loss for the Hatters there were some positives to take away. Stetson was able to get some of the younger players off the bench and in the game to experience play against one of the top teams in the country.
"Our younger players came off the bench and played with energy and enthusiasm. Andy made some really good saves", said Orlowski.
Stetson keeper Andrea Garavaglia (Webster Groves, Mo.) faced 22 shots on the afternoon and made five saves.
"We will look to learn from this and bring it to the field against Virginia Commonwealth", added Orlowski.
Stetson will host Virginia Commonwealth this Friday, September 3 at 7:00 p.m. It will be the final home game for nearly a month as the Hatters head out for six consecutive road games.
