DeLand, Fla. - Stetson's Luis Jacobo has been named the Atlantic Sun Conference Newcomer of the Week for the week ending January 17, 2011. It is the first conference award for the freshman forward out of Sanford, Florida.

On Friday Jacobo led the Hatters' scoring attack with 18 points in a win over Mercer on CSS Television. He hit 7-of-10 attempts from the floor and was a perfect 2-for-2 from 3-point territory, as well as the free throw line. He also added five rebounds and three assists. Sunday afternoon Jacobo was once again Stetson's top scorer in a narrow loss to Kennesaw State at the buzzer. He scored 16 points, pulled down five rebounds and added three more assists.

On the week Jacobo averaged 17.0 points, five rebounds, and three assists to take home the award. So far this season he is averaging 10.4 points and 4.1 rebounds in Stetson's all-important conference games.
