Troy, Ala. - The Stetson women's tennis team improved to 3-0 on the season with a 6-1 victory at Troy (2-3) Friday evening.  Four Hatters were double winners, including freshmen MayaBlue Stauffer-MacDowell (Asheville, N.C.) and Sierra Sullivan (Austin, Texas).

Damp, chilly conditions prevailed throughout southeastern Alabama this evening, where Stetson's freshman duo pulled out an 8-5 doubles win on Court 2 over Olfa Dhaoui and Rosaura Ramirez-Vega that clinched the doubles point for the Hatters.  Also winning by an 8-3 score on Court 1 was the stalwart Carolina de los Santos (Montevideo, Uruguay)/Unnati Purushotham (Hyderabad, India) combo.

Stetson seized control in the singles portion with four straight set victories from de los Santos, Purushotham, Sullivan and freshman Lindsey Cable (Gainesville, Fla.); Stauffer-MacDowell rounded out the proceedings by edging Lyubov Dorofeeva 7-5, 6-7, 6-4 in a three-set battle on Court 4.  The Hatters are 16-2 as a team in singles matches so far in dual competition this spring.

The Hatters stay in Troy to face Charleston Southern tomorrow afternoon.
