FULLERTON, Calif. - The
Stetson women's tennis team (3-4) lost a close match on Thursday, falling to
Cal State Fullerton (7-6) by a score of 4-3 in Fullerton, California.
Stetson started the match off on a good note, winning the
doubles point. The duo of junior Lindsey Cable and freshman Eveline Lepinay
defeated Morgan McIntosh 8-6. Junior Diana Bukajeva and senior Jen Miller then defeated
Megan Sandford and Emilia Borkowski 8-4 to give Stetson the point.
After winning the doubles point, Stetson lost four of the
six singles matches to drop the match. At number six singles, Miller defeated
Sandford 6-0, 6-2. The other singles victory for Stetson came from Bukajeva,
who defeated Rodriguez 6-2, 6-2.
Sara Lazarevic pushed her match to three sets, but came up
short, losing to Tiffany Mai by a score of 6-3, 1-6, 6-3. Clarke Tatje also
made it to three sets, but lost her match to Borkowski by a score of 6-3, 2-6,
6-1.
Lindsey Cable was defeated by Kalika Slevcove by a score of
6-3, 6-4. Andrea Crespo was also defeated, losing to McIntosh 6-1, 6-3.
Stetson returns to action tomorrow, March 8, when the
Hatters take on Cal State Northridge (5-2). The match is slated to begin at
4:30 p.m. (1:30 PT).
Match Note: Cable and Lepinay are 6-0 this season in doubles.
