The Stetson men's basketball team will head on the road for its final two games of the regular season this weekend, beginning with a matchup at Northern Kentucky. The Hatters and the Norse are scheduled to tip-off at 7:00 p.m. from the Bank of Kentucky Center.
Stetson (7-21, 5-11) has struggled as of late, dropping seven of the Hatters' last eight games, but they can still clinch a berth in the Atlantic Sun Conference Tournament with a win on Thursday. Stetson would also earn a spot in the league playoffs if Kennesaw State were to lose to Jacksonville Thursday night.
Northern Kentucky (8-20, 4-12) comes into the weekend one game back of Stetson in the league standings. The Norse, in their second season of Division I play, are ineligible from postseason play due to reclassification rules. NKU has lost 11 of its last 12 contests, dating back to a Jan. 9 game against USC Upstate.
Stetson leads NKU 2-1 in the all-time series between the two teams, which began just last season. The Hatters swept the Norse in 2012-13, but then dropped a 67-65 overtime game to NKU at home earlier this season.
Junior Kentwan Smith has been tremendous from the field as of late. The forward went a perfect 5-for-5 from the floor against Mercer and was a combined 14-of-18 on the weekend. Smith is currently ranked fourth in A-Sun play with a shooting percentage of 56.7.
