Fort Myers, Fla. -- Caitlin Plocheck's RBI single in the bottom of the fourth inning proved to be the difference as Lipscomb defeated Stetson 1-0 Thursday morning in the Atlantic Sun Conference Softball Championship at the FGCU Softball Complex.

The Hatters (28-19) will face UNF, who fell 13-1 to USC Upstate, in an elimination game at 5:30 p.m. Thursday.

The Lady Bisons (30-23) advance to Friday's winners bracket semifinal.

The Hatters went just 1-for-11 with runners on base and stranded seven in the game.

"I thought both pitchers did an exceptional job," Stetson head coach Frank Griffin said. "We had our opportunities at the plate with runners in scoring position, but their pitcher won the battle."

Chelsea Hostetler (18-9) held Lipscomb to just one run on five hits, all singles, while pitching her second complete game in a row.

"I am really pleased with Chelsea holding them to just one run," Griffin said.  "We made a couple of silly mistakes (on the bases), but now we have to go get ready for another ball game."

Kelly Young (17-13) struck out eight over seven innings to earn the win for Lipscomb.

Jessica Griffin hit her 10th double of the season. Courtney Brandt and Brittany Hawn also singled for the Hatters.  It was Hawn's 100th career hit.

The loss snapped Stetson's five-game winning streak in A-Sun tournament play.
