Starkville, Miss. – The Stetson volleyball team earned a 3-0 (25-15, 25-23, 25-23) victory over Mississippi Valley State in the final match of the Maroon Classic at Mississippi State University.

The Hatters (2-5) finished the tournament with a 1-2 mark.

“We had our ups and downs,” Stetson head coach Kristina Hernandez said. “I felt like we played really tough against Mississippi State even though the result didn't end up our way. Today, I was glad to see us hit well in our last match. I think we are still working on our options. If we are serving well, we seem to do well, so we need to focus on keeping the serve on our side.”

Against MVSU (0-8), Haley Tippett led the Hatters with 12 kills and eight digs. Cailyn Prewitt added eight kills as Stetson hit a season-high .261. Kayla Weller recorded 19 assists and four aces. 

The Hatters will host the Stetson Invitational next weekend at the Edmunds Center. Florida International and Mercer will provide the competition.
