Hatters, North Florida Set to Clash in ASUN Quarterfinals

Stetson women's soccer begins post-season play on Saturday when the third-seeded Hatters host sixth-seeded North Florida in an Atlantic Sun Conference Tournament quarterfinal match. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m. at the Athletic Training Center.

The ASUN Tournament features the conference's top six teams, with the top two seeds (FGCU, Lipscomb) receiving a bye into the semifinals. Regular season champion FGCU will host the remainder of the tournament next weekend in Fort Myers.

Stetson is hosting an ASUN Tournament game for the first time since 2009, when the Hatters defeated Campbell, 2-1. The Hatters are looking to reach the semifinal round for the second straight year. Should they advance the Hatters will face Lipscomb on Nov. 4.

Saturday's match will be the second meeting between the Hatters and Ospreys this season. Stetson won, 3-2, in overtime back on Oct. 15 in DeLand. Eduarda Pavao scored the game-winner less than two minutes into overtime. Sarah Collins also scored twice for Stetson.

"I think it's a great opportunity to host," Stetson head coach Manoj Khettry said. "It's great to have another chance to play at home; however, it's going to be a very difficult game. It's tough to beat the same team twice in the same year, let alone in the span of two weeks. I think it will be an extremely competitive game."

Stetson (8-6-2 overall) is looking to right the ship after finishing the regular season with consecutive losses. The Hatters suffered losses to FGCU (2-1) and Jacksonville (3-2) in the final weekend.

"The focus has to be on the fact that we played extremely well in our last game in at Jacksonville," Khettry said. "This is a different team than we've had before. I think the mentality is better, there's more consistency on the defensive side, and we have more variety of ways of scoring than we have in the past."

North Florida (6-8-2) has won just twice in its last six games. The Ospreys, however, haven't lost any match by more than one goal in that's span, including a 1-0 home loss to FGCU last Saturday.

Tickets for Saturday's quarterfinal are $7. Group tickets are available for $5 each. Call the Stetson Ticket Office at (386) 738-HAT or visit www.GoHatters.com for more information.

ASUN Tournament History
