Hatters Show Well at Rumble in the Jungle

The Stetson beach volleyball team had a strong showing against outside competition at the Rumble in the Jungle this past Saturday in Vero Beach, Fla.

In their lone tournament this fall, the Hatters took on pairs from Florida State, Florida Atlantic, and UNF during the tournament at the Jungle Club Sports Complex.

"Overall, we had a lot of good things to take away from the tournament," Stetson assistant coach Jordon Dyer said. "It always helps after a long preseason to get some different looks and play against some people you don't know. It was nice for them to get away from Stetson University and play somebody else."

Kristin Lind and Darby Dunn went 2-1 in pool play and advanced to the finals of the Gold bracket before falling to a pair from Florida State.

Kaylee Anderson and Emily Carroll swept their pool (3-0) and advanced to the finals of the Silver bracket, again falling to a pair from FSU.

Jamie Walsh and Lauren Durham went a perfect 3-0 in their pool, advancing the Bronze bracket, along with Grace Christiansen and Carly Perales. Both teams advanced to the Bronze bracket semifinals.

Also competing for Stetson were Maggie Skjelbred and Sunniva Helland-Hansen, Chloe Markland, Katey Merksamer and Caroline Pomet, Rachel Noble, Alexa Richardson and Samantha Harris, and Lexi Ham and Sam D'Adamo.

The Hatters will begin their season on March 3. A full schedule will be announced in the coming weeks.
