Hatters Fall Short at Alabama, 83-60

TUSCALOOSA, Ala.—Stetson's Divine Myles scored 18 points but Alabama used a smothering defense and a hot start to the second half for an 83-60 win over the Hatters, Thursday at Coleman Coliseum.

Myles was 8 of 13 from the field with a pair of three-pointers while playing for the first time in his home state. But the Mobile native's efforts weren't enough against Alabama's length, athleticism and depth.

Stetson (6-9) battled Alabama almost evenly in the first half, rallying late to make it a tight game at halftime. After falling behind 29-15 with 6:41 left in the half, Stetson got as close as 31-27 on a Luke Doyle layup with 1:30 left. Alabama led 36-29 at the break.

Alabama (7-5), however, opened the second half with a 15-1 run and led 51-30 with 16:18 to play. Stetson never got closer than 16 points the rest of the way.

Derick Newton (13) and Brian Pegg (10) joined Myles in double figures. Angel Rivera led Stetson with a career-high 10 rebounds.

The Hatters were limited to 37 percent shooting by the Tide. Stetson was 7 of 20 from 3-point range and went 9 of 12 from the free throw line.

Alabama, which shot 48 percent for the game, was led by Riley Norris' 18 points. Dazon Ingram added 16 points, while Braxton Key and Avery Johnson, Jr., each scored 10.
