Spartanburg, S.C. -- USC Upstate snapped Stetson's three-game winning streak with 73-58 victory over the visiting Hatters Saturday afternoon at the Hodge Center.
Sarah Sagerer led Stetson (15-9, 6-4 A-Sun) with 16 points and 16 rebounds for her fourth career double-double. McKenna Beach added 12 points and Myka Johnson-Matthews scored 10.
"I think they just played a lot harder than we did," Stetson head coach Lynn Bria said. "They got to more loose balls, they executed on offense, and they guarded well defensively. We didn't guard, and we didn't come out with any energy. We just didn't do it on either end."
Stetson shot just 33 percent from the floor and 21 percent from behind the arc.
Travonda Haddock led the Spartans (17-8, 8-2) with 15 points.
The Hatters will now travel to Newark, N.J. to face NJIT Monday night.
