Baton Rouge, La. -- The eighth-ranked Stetson beach volleyball team went 1-1 against two ranked opponents Saturday at the LSU Tiger Beach Challenge.
The Hatters (7-1) fell to No. 10 Georgia State in the afternoon 3-2 before bouncing back with a 3-2 victory over No. 12 LSU in the nightcap.
Of Stetson's 10 pairs matches on the day, six of them went the full three sets, including all five against LSU.
Stetson's No. 1 pair of Vendy Strakova and Sara Putt won both their matches. The duo won 2-0 vs. Georgia State and 2-1 vs. LSU.
Also earning 2-1 victories vs. LSU were Kristin Lind and Rachel Noble at the No. 2 seed and Madison Akins and Lauren Durham at the No. 4 seed.
Against Georgia State, Stetson's second win came from Jamie Walsh and Alexa Richardson by a 2-0 margin at the No. 5 seed.
Stetson now has two wins against Top 20 opponents this season.
The Hatters will continue play at the Tiger Beach Challenge Sunday vs. Louisiana-Monroe and New Orleans.
