Siesta Key, Fla. -- The Stetson beach volleyball team captured two dual match victories at the Fiesta on Siesta Key Saturday.  The ninth-ranked Hatters defeated UAB 5-0 and 10th-ranked Grand Canyon 3-2 to improve to 22-6 on the season.

All five pairs were victorious against UAB, including Vendy Strakova and Sara Putt at the 1 seed.  Their 21-14, 19-21, 15-10 victory was their school-record 25th dual match win of the year.

The Hatters also got straight set wins at the 2 seed from Kristin Lind and Rachel Noble, at the 3 seed from Kaylee Anderson and Emily Carroll, at the 4 seed from Madison Akins and Samantha Harris, and at the 5 seed from Jamie Walsh and Alexa Richardson.

Against Grand Canyon, the Hatters collected wins at the lower three seeds to earn a quality win against a western region opponent.

Carroll and Anderson won 21-11, 21-16 at the 3 seed, Akins and Harris won 21-15, 22-20 at the 4 seed, and Walsh and Richardson won 21-18, 21-18 at the 5 seed.

In addition, Julie Varga and Lauren Durham won the silver flight pairs tournament.

The Fiesta on Siesta Beach continues Sunday as the Hatters will face South Carolina at 9:30 a.m. and Louisiana-Monroe at 1 p.m.
