Siesta Key, Fla. -- The ninth-ranked Stetson beach volleyball team swept a pair of matches on Sunday, defeating South Carolina 3-2 and Louisiana-Monroe 5-0 on the final day of the Fiesta on Siesta Beach.
The Hatters completed the weekend tournament with a 4-0 dual match record to improve to 24-6 on the season. The 24 victories sets a new single-season school record.
"It was great to be able to get four solid wins this weekend," Stetson head coach Kristina Hernandez said. "The wins against (ranked opponents) Grand Canyon and South Carolina were important, but I feel everything at this point is an important win for us. We moved a few people around in seeds and the team responded well. We have a midweek match Wednesday, and then we will focus on getting ready for Atlantic Sun Championships."
Against 19th-ranked South Carolina, the Hatters earned victories at the 1, 2 and 5 seeds. Vendy Strakova and Sara Putt captured a 21-11, 21-16 at the top seed.
