Hatters Visit NJIT for Key ASUN Match

Stetson men's soccer makes their first-ever visit to Newark, N.J., this weekend when the Hatters face Atlantic Sun Conference rival NJIT, 6 p.m., Saturday.
 
The Highlanders (4-4-2 overall, 1-0-0 ASUN) are in their first season of men's soccer in the ASUN after playing last season in the Sun Belt Conference. NJIT has lost two straight entering play on Saturday, and the Highlanders will be playing their fourth game in 11 days when they face the Hatters.
 
Stetson (3-5-2, 1-1-0) suffered a 3-1 loss at FAU on Tuesday. Junior Luke Ferreira scored his team-leading fourth goal and ranks among league leaders in goals, assists and points.

Series Info
Saturday's game will be the first meeting between Stetson and NJIT. The Highlanders joined the ASUN prior to the 2015-16 athletic year, but men's soccer was obligated to continue playing in the Sun Belt last season and became an ASUN sport this year.
 
News & Notes
Luke Ferreira has been the one offensive constant for Stetson this season. The junior leads the team and ranks fifth in the league with four goals. He is also tied for 2nd in assists (3) and is fourth in points (11) … Paul Ladwig continues to lead the ASUN in saves (58), ranking 2nd in the NCAA in total saves and 8th in saves per game (5.80).
