Hatters Host FGCU Saturday in ASUN Conference Showdown

Stetson men's soccer can take a big step towards securing its first ASUN Conference regular-season title in over a decade on Saturday, but it won't be easy as the Hatters welcome perennial conference heavy FGCU to the Athletic Training Center for a 7 p.m., Saturday clash.

Saturday's game will also represent Senior Night, as the Hatters honor five outgoing seniors. Justin Broome, Gianluca Carbone, Eyal Cohen, Jared Huber and Patrick Jackson will be recognized in pregame ceremonies.

Stetson (6-5-0 overall, 4-0-0 ASUN) sits alone atop the conference standings with two games to play. A win will give the Hatters at least a share of ASUN championship and, more importantly, could also give the Hatters the No. 1 seed for next month's ASUN Tournament.

The Hatters, ranked eighth in this week's Southeast region poll, have won five of their last six games, including a 2-1 win last Sunday against NJIT. Justin Broome and Deniz Dogan scored goals for Stetson as the Hatters rallied from a 1-0 halftime deficit.

FGCU (6-4-1, 3-0-0), the Southeast's No. 6-ranked team, had won five straight games before suffering a 4-3 overtime loss on Tuesday to FIU.

Saturday's game will be streamed free on HatterVision, and fans can also follow live stats at StetsonStats.com.

News & Notes: The Hatters have won two ASUN regular-season titles in program history, the last coming in 2006 … Stetson also shared the league crown in 2001 … the Hatters have allowed just two goals in four ASUN games … the Hatters close out the ASUN season next Saturday at Jacksonville, but still have non-conference games remaining with FAU (Oct. 17) and at Georgia Southern (Oct. 24).
