Hatters Downed By Jacksonville 3-1

DeLand, Fla. -- Jacksonville registered 54 kills and picked up 78 digs en route to a 3-1 victory (25-14, 25-18, 17-25, 25-15) over Stetson Saturday night at the Edmunds Center.

For the second match in as many days, the Hatters (3-16, 2-5 ASUN) fell behind 2-0 at intermission before mounting a comeback.  Stetson cruised to a 25-17 win in the third set Saturday, but could not muster another rally in the fourth as the first-place Dolphins (12-8, 6-1) held on for the victory.

"As a team, we have to go back to being more consistent with the basics," Stetson head coach Yang Deng said. "We want to have a little bit of confidence but nothing overwhelming.  There is so much room for improvement; we still have to focus on the process.  How do we improve every game? How do we improve individually and as a team? We can't be satisfied with just a few wins."

Hao Jin led the Hatters with 11 kills and six blocks.  Eva Deisa recorded her fourth straight double-double with 11 kills and 13 digs.  Naina Ivanova also notched a double-double, her 10th of the year, with 32 assists and 12 digs.  Chelcie Spence (14 digs) and Charlotte Earnhart (11 digs) also recorded double figures in digs.

Stetson hit just .086 for the match, while Jacksonville hit .211.  Mallory Mattingly led the Dolphins with 15 kills and 23 digs.

Unlike Friday's match that saw 15 lead changes, Saturday's match did not feature any.

With the first half of ASUN play in the books, Stetson will visit FGCU next Saturday at 6 p.m.
