Hatters Fall 3-0 at FGCU

Julie Varga ties a career-high with eight kills

Fort Myers, Fla. -- FGCU extended its winning streak to eight in a row with a 3-0 (25-20, 25-14, 25-19) victory over visiting Stetson Saturday night at Alico Arena.

Julie Varga led the Hatters (3-17, 2-6 ASUN) with eight kills, tying a career-high.

Four other Hatters collected four kills or more.  Anna Bezhan and Charlotte Earnhart collected six kills apiece, while Hao Jin had five kills and three blocks.  Shelby Connors netted four kills and recorded her 350th career block.

Chelcie Spence picked up 13 digs and served a season-high three aces.  Bezhan added 10 digs.  Naina Ivanova dished out 27 assists.

The Eagles hit .353 while the Hatters hit .173.

Amanda Carroll had 17 kills to lead FGCU (17-6, 7-1), which has won 22 consecutive sets.

The Hatters will continue their five-game road swing Friday night at Jacksonville.
