Hatters Close ASUN Schedule Friday at Jacksonville

Stetson men's soccer closes out ASUN Conference regular-season play on Friday when the Hatters visit Jacksonville. The 7 p.m. game can be seen on ESPN3.

Friday's game means much more for Stetson than just the end of the conference season. A win will give the Hatters at least a share of ASUN title and guarantee them at least one home game in next month's ASUN Tournament. A loss or a tie puts both the regular season title and postseason fate in limbo.

The Hatters are 4-0-1 in ASUN play. Their nearest competitors – FGCU (3-0-1) and NJIT (3-1-0) – each have two conference games left to play, including one against each other on Oct. 28. The outcomes of those games will determine Stetson's seeding and championship fate.

Overall, Stetson is 7-5-1 and is 6-1-1 in its last eight games. The Hatters notched a 1-0 win over FAU on Tuesday as freshman Deniz Dogan scored his team-leading seventh goal in the 74th minute.

Jacksonville (3-8-0, 1-2-0) got off to a rough start before righting the ship and winning three straight games. That winning streak, however, was snapped by NJIT last Saturday in a 4-1 loss. The Dolphins have scored just 10 goals all season.
