Hatters Power Past USC Upstate 3-1

Stetson Completes Weekend Sweep

DeLand, Fla. -- Stetson posted season-highs of 59 kills and 87 digs en route to a 3-1 (28-26, 23-25, 25-14, 25-22) ASUN Conference victory over USC Upstate Saturday night at the Edmunds Center.

The Hatters (3-14, 2-3 ASUN) completed a weekend sweep and climbed up to fourth place in the ASUN standings.

Stetson had its most consistent offensive night of the season, hitting better than .240 in all four sets and finishing with a .254 attack percentage.  Four different Hatters recorded double-digit kill totals, and five different Stetson players picked up double-digit digs.

In addition, three different Hatters recorded double-doubles.  Eva Deisa notched her second straight double-double with 15 kills and 18 digs.  Anna Bezhan tallied 12 kills and a career-high 16 digs.  Setter Naina Ivanova had a career-high 49 assists to go along with 11 digs.  

Rebecca Ingram had a season-high 14 kills, while Hao Jin hit .393 (11-0-28), putting down several rockets during the match.

Chelcie Spence led the huge defensive effort with 23 digs.  Charlotte Earnhart contributed 12 digs as well.

Stetson also had nine blocks and five service aces as a team.

McKenna Kirkpatrick had 18 kills for USC Upstate (5-13, 2-3).

The Hatters will continue their four-game homestand next weekend against UNF and first place Jacksonville.
