Hatters Ink JUCO Standout Jahlil Rawley

Jahlil Rawley (Durham, North Carolina) has signed a National Letter-of-Intent to continue his academic and athletic career at Stetson next fall, Hatters men's basketball Head Coach Corey Williams announced today.

Rawley, a 6-4, 170-pound point guard, is currently enrolled at Shelton State Community College in Tuscaloosa, Ala., where he is in his sophomore season. He will have two seasons of eligibility remaining at Stetson.

"Jahlil is really athletic and extremely fast," Williams said. "He gets people involved and shares the ball, and he can score. He really attacks the basket. Defensively I think Jahlil has a chance to be outstanding because of his length and athleticism."

10882With the losses of point guards Divine Myles and Angel Rivera following the 2017-18 season, Rawley fills an obvious need for the Hatters and will have an opportunity to make an immediate impact next season.

"We're losing two guys that we have trusted for the last four years and we needed someone to replace them," Williams said. "With his experience, Jahlil brings a lot to the table."

Rawley attended Barton County Community College as a freshman, averaging 10.4 points, 4.1 assists and 3.4 rebounds per game while starting 28 off 33 games as BCCC went 25-8. He scored in double figures 17 times, with a high of 29 points vs. Seward County CC. He twice had 10 assists in one game.

Through the season's first six games at Shelton State, Rawley has started five times and is averaging 7.2 points, 4.3 assists and 3.7 rebounds per game. He is shooting 38 percent from 3-point range and 75 percent from the free throw line.

Rawley graduated from Kestrel Heights School in Durham in 2016.

Rawley is the Hatters' second signee of the early signing period, joining Jalen Crutchfield (Norman, Okla./Norman North HS).
