DeLand, Fla. – Stetson University beach volleyball senior Kristin Lind (Tierp, Sweden) has been named the 2017 ASUN Conference Preseason Player of the Year, the league announced on Thursday.
Senior Kaylee Anderson (Loxahatchee, Fla.), and sophomore Emily Carroll (Elburn, Ill.) join Lind on the preseason all-conference team.
Lind has had a remarkable first three seasons as a Hatter.  She is the program's all-time leader with 64 dual match victories and is a two-time ASUN Scholar-Arhlete of the Year for beach volleyball.  Last season, she posted a 24-12 record while playing primarily at the 2 seed. She defeated No. 4 national seed UCLA in the NCAA Championship while paired with Madison Tormey. She also recorded non-conference wins over #18 Tulane, #12 LSU, #10 FIU, and #4 UCLA (regular season) while paired with Rachel Noble. She was a first-team all-conference selection in 2015 and the ASUN Pair of the Tournament winner in 2014.
Anderson and Carroll teamed together last year to have a fantastic season at the 3 seed. Â The pair earned ASUN First Team all-conference honors after going 25-11 overall and 7-1 in ASUNÂ play. They also defeated No. 4 national seed UCLA in the NCAA Championship and had non-conference wins over #18 Tulane, #10 FIU, #19 South Carolina, and #10 Grand Canyon. Â Â Their 25 dual match victories ranked fourth among all pairs in the ASUN.
The Hatters are ranked ninth nationally in the AVCA preseason poll, and they open the season March 4-5 by hosting the Stetson Spring Break Invitational.
