Huntsville, AL – Stetson Beach Volleyball punched its ticket to the ASUN Championship match with two gritty wins on Friday, taking down #4 North Alabama 3-1 in the morning before edging #2 North Florida 3-2 in a dramatic semifinal showdown.
The semifinal came down to the top court with the match tied 2-2.
Marta Carro and
Julia Radelczuk delivered under pressure, reeling off a crucial 7-0 run in the third set to take a 13-9 lead. The duo held strong, sealing the set 15-13 and clinching the match for the Hatters.
Against North Alabama, the Hatters came out strong. After
Madeline Camp and
Julia Czurylo dropped their match on court five 19-21, 14-21,
Grace Goudy and
Vanessa Hurnikova quickly evened things up on court four with a hard-fought three-set win 21-13, 19-21, 15-7.
Katie Camp and
Maria Ozaeta followed with a straight-set victory on court two 21-15, 21-16, and
Marta Carro and
Julia Radelczuk clinched the match on court one with a solid 21-18, 21-19 performance.
Stetson faced an early deficit against North Florida, as Camp and Czurylo dropped their match on court five 14-21, 16-21, and
Youna Coens and
Caroline De Oliveira came up short on court three 17-21, 19-21. The Hatters began their rally with Ozaeta and Camp securing a point on court two 21-15, 21-14, followed by Goudy and Hurnikova tying the match at 2-2 with a dominant win on court four 21-14, 21-15. With the match on the line, Carro and Radelczuk battled back from a set down to win on court one 16-21, 21-16, 15-13 and send Stetson to the final.
The Hatters now advance to the ASUN Championship Final, where they'll face the winner of the consolation bracket on Saturday, April 26 at 2:30 p.m. EST.
