Hatters Drop ASUN Opener

DeLAND—Stetson women's tennis opened Atlantic Sun Conference play on Thursday with a 6-1 loss to FGCU at Mandy Stoll Tennis Center. The loss snapped Stetson's two-match winning streak.

With weather an issue throughout the afternoon, the Hatters and Eagles began play with the singles competition. Doubles play closed out the day.

Stetson's only singles win was a 4-6, 7-5, 1-0 (10-5) win by freshman Sofia Ferding at No. 4.

The Hatters (3-11, 0-1) picked up a doubles victory as the No. 3 team of Isabella Fernandez and Danielle Peele earned a 6-1 win. But the Eagles took victories at Nos. 1 & 2, securing the doubles points.

Stetson returns to action when the Hatters visit North Florida, noon, Saturday.
