Hatters Begin ASUN Play on Sunday

Stetson lacrosse opens Atlantic Sun Conference play this weekend when the Hatters visit Old Dominion, 1 p.m., Sunday, in Norfolk, Va.
 
The Hatters (0-7) hope to begin ASUN play with their first victory of the season. The Hatters have had narrow losses to La Salle (18-20) and Niagara (14-16). But the Hatters have also played nearly half their games against nationally-ranked teams as well (No. 3 USC, No. 14 Colorado, No. 15 Towson).
 
On the offensive side, Shelby Lehmann (11), Sam Maguire (11) and Lindsay Summers (10) have all reached double-figures in goals scored. Summers leads the team with eight assists, while Maddie Holvey ranks among ASUN leaders with a team-high 18 draw controls.
 
Freshman goalie Liza Diamond currently leads the ASUN with 37 ground balls, while ranking third with 59 saves.
 
Old Dominion (4-3) is the defending ASUN Tournament champion. The Monarchs have lost three of their last five games. Connor Carson leads ODU with 15 goals and 17 total points.
 
Notes: The Hatters and Monarchs are meeting for the third time since ODU joined the ASUN prior to the 2015 season … ODU leads the all-time series 2-0 … Sam Maguire is nine goals shy of becoming the third player in program history to reach 50 in a career.
