Hatters Fall to No. 1 USC and No. 4 FSU

Kristin Lind reaches milestone win

Columbia, S.C. -- The Stetson beach volleyball team (7-10) gave two strong efforts against No. 1 Southern California and No. 4 Florida State Sunday but fell 4-1 to each opponent on the final day of the Gamecock Grand Slam.

Hatter senior Kristin Lind registered her 75th career dual victory, teaming with Darby Dunn at the 2 seed to defeat USC's Sophie Bukovec and Allie Wheeler 24-22, 12-21, 16-14. Dunn had the game-winning block in the dramatic third-set, extra-point win.

It is the second straight year the Hatters tallied at least one point against top-ranked USC. The Trojans (16-0) have won 46 duals in a row.

Against Florida State, it was Stetson's 5 seed of Sunniva Helland-Hansen and Carly Perales who came through, defeating Ali Eager and Molly McBain 21-17, 21-16.

For the weekend, Stetson went 2-2, picking up critical wins against No. 9 Georgia State and No. 9 South Carolina on Saturday.

The Hatters will begin ASUN play next weekend in Jacksonville.
