Hatters Move to 8-0 in the ASUN Following Weekend Sweep

Stetson clinches a share of the regular season title.

DeLand, Fla. -- Stetson completed a 4-0 ASUN weekend sweep Saturday with a 4-1 victory over Mercer and 5-0 win vs. Coastal Carolina at the Cooper Beach Volleyball Courts.

With the victories, the Hatters (15-10) improved to 8-0 in conference play and clinched at least a share of the ASUN regular season championship. Stetson will visit FGCU Wednesday needing one win to clinch the regular season title outright.

For the second straight day, Stetson's 1 seed of Maggie Skjelbred and Samantha Harris won a three-set thriller against Coastal Carolina, 12-21, 21-16, 15-11. The Hatters also won by injury forfeit at the 2 seed, with Caroline Pomet and Sam D'Adamo credited with their first career victories.

Darby Dunn and Kristin Lind won 2-0 at the 3 seed, Emily Carroll and Kaylee Anderson won 2-0 at the 4 seed, and Tiffany Creamer and Rachel Noble won 2-0 at the 5 seed.

Earlier the day, the Hatters earned a hard fought victory over Mercer. Harris and Skjelbred won 21-15, 21-16 at the 1 seed, Dunn and Lind won 21-18, 21-17 at the 2 seed, Noble and Creamer won 21-17, 24-22 at the 4 seed, and Sunniva Helland-Hansen and Carly Perales won 21-17, 21-7 at the 5 seed.

The Hatters have now won eight matches in a row. Stetson honored its seniors Skjelbred, Lind, Creamer, and Anderson prior to the Coastal Carolina match.
