Hatters Open ASUN Tournament Play Thursday with Furman

Stetson opens Atlantic Sun Conference Tournament play on Thursday when the sixth-seeded Hatters face No. 3 Furman at 4 p.m. at Jacksonville's D.B. Milne Stadium.
 
The Hatters (5-11 overall, 5-5 ASUN) are seeking their first-ever ASUN Tournament victory. Stetson is 0-3 all-time in conference tournament play. Furman (11-6, 7-3) finished the regular season in a two-way tie for third with Mercer.
 
Stetson and Furman faced off in a memorable game in late April with the Paladins coming out on top, 19-14. Furman jumped out to a 15-6 lead, but Stetson rallied with seven straight goals to get within 15-13 with 7:41 to play. The Paladins, however, scored four of the final five goals to escape with the win.
 
The 2017 Hatters own the top offense in program history, with a school-record 202 goals in 17 games (11.9 per game). Five players have scored at least 20 goals this season, the first time that's happened since the program began in 2013. Sam Maguire has a school-record 40 goals, and is joined in the 20-goal club by Taylor Patrizi (27), Shelby Lehmann (25), Sandra Stephan (23) and Lindsay Summers (22).
