Hatters Head to South Texas for Weekend Tournament

Stetson women's soccer begins a stretch of five straight contests away from home this weekend when the Hatters face Texas Rio Grande Valley and Arkansas-Pine Bluff at the UTRGV Tournament in Edinburgh, Texas.

The Hatters (2-2) will face host-UTRGV, 8 p.m., Thursday, and take on UAPB, 5 p.m., Saturday. Thursday's game can be seen on the WAC Digital Network, and live stats will be available for both matches.

Stetson enters the weekend on a high note after securing a 1-0 win against Embry-Riddle last Sunday. Senior Allison Zaccheo scored the game's only goal as the Hatters and Eagles played most of the night in heavy rain.

Zaccheo is second on the team with two goals. Fellow senior Sarah Collins leads the Hatters and is tied for the ASUN Conference lead with three goals. Sophomore goalkeeper Emily Plotz is third in the conference with a 1.00 goals-against average, and tied for first with two shutouts.

News & Notes: Stetson has never previously played Arkansas-Pine Bluff or UTRGV (formerly UT-Pan American) … with three goals this season and 31 for her career, Collins is three scores behind program all-time leader Tessa Gavilsky, who scored 34 goals from 2007-10 … Plotz moved into a tie for third in program history with her seventh career shutout on Sunday.
