Bhatnagar Reaches Finals at Southern Intercollegiate

Stetson freshman Malik Bhatnagar continued his impressive run at the Southern Intercollegiate on Saturday, winning a pair of matches to reach the championship match of the Division II singles draw at the University of Georgia.

Bhatnagar defeated David Gonzales of East Tennessee State in the quarterfinals and Oli Nolan of UNC Asheville in the semifinals. He will face Louisville's Ciro Lampasas in the finals on Monday.

"Malik is doing a fine job adjusting to the college setting," Stetson head coach Christophe Noblet said. "He is a competitor in nature, and his capacity to adapt to a player's game style, is second to none. His physical maturity is also a big plus in his game, and provides him with a boost of confidence when the match is on line. He is looking forward to his first collegiate final tomorrow."

The only other Hatters to compete on Sunday faced off against each other. Coilin MacNamara defeated teammate Colter DeCoste in straight sets in the Division III consolation round.
