Hatters Fall in Three Sets to Providence

Stetson records 10 blocks once again

DeLand, Fla. -- Providence remained undefeated on the season following Saturday's 3-0 (25-22, 25-17, 25-19) victory over Stetson at the Edmunds Center.

The Friars (6-0) won all three of their matches in this weekend's Hatter Classic tournament.  The Hatters fell to 0-5.

For the second straight match, Stetson's defense recorded 10 blocks.  Middle blockers Shelby Connors and Hao Jin led the way with two solo blocks each.  Jin finished the match with six blocks overall and Connors recorded four.

Jin also helped lead the offense with a .455 attack percentage (5-0-11).  Charlotte Earnhart hit at a .429 clip (4-1-7). Eva Deisa led the team with seven kills and 15 digs.

"I saw moments of bright spots that we can build and improve upon," Stetson head coach Yang Deng said.  "Still, we have to work on our consistency.  Our offense right now is not quite as good as our defense.  We have to find ways to be more consistent in putting balls away."

The Hatters will host Bucknell at 11 a.m. Sunday.
