Hatters Welcome FGCU as ASUN Play Begins Saturday

Stetson women's soccer begins its quest for a conference championship on Saturday when the Hatters open ASUN Conference play by hosting defending champion FGCU, 7 p.m., at the Athletic Training Center. Admission is free for those who bring a ticket from the football game to the ATC.

The Hatters enter Saturday's clash armed with a 5-2-1 overall record and a five-match unbeaten streak. Senior Sarah Collins, the reigning ASUN Offensive Player of the Week, recently became Stetson's all-time leader in goals and she currently leads the conference in that category with seven.

FGCU (7-2-0) currently leads the ASUN in goals per game (2.78) and total assists (26). The Eagles have played just once since a Sept. 10 loss at Arizona State due to the impact of Hurricane Irma.

Notes: In addition to leading the league in goals, Collins is tied for the conference lead in game-winning goals (2) and is second in total points (14) … goalkeeper Emily Plotz ranks second in saves (37) and third in goals-against average (0.78) … the first 150 fans through the gates on Saturday will receive a free soccer scarf.
