Hatters Continue ASUN Play Saturday with USC Upstate

Coming off their most impressive outing of the season Stetson men's basketball returns to ASUN Conference action when the Hatters host USC Upstate, 4 p.m., Saturday at Edmunds Center. The game will be broadcast live on ESPN3 and can be heard locally on WSBB AM 1230 and 1490.

With Thursday's 80-67 win over visiting NJIT, the Hatters (9-9, 1-1) not only evened up their overall and conference records they possibly set the tone for the season's remainder.

Stetson's defensive performance in the second was impressive. The Hatters smothered NJIT in the final 20 minutes, holding the Highlanders to 28.6 percent shooting after halftime, erasing a 41-34 halftime deficit.

The Stetson offense was clicking on all cylinders as well, as the Hatters shot a season-best 56.1 percent from the field. Divine Myles led the way with 20 points, but the play of junior Leo Goodman carried the Hatters in the second half.

Goodman scored 10 of his season-high 15 points in the second half, and he finished perfect from the field on six field goal attempts, including three shots from 3-point range.

USC Upstate (5-14, 0-2) has lost three straight games, including a 75-58 setback at FGCU on Thursday.

News & Notes
•Leo Goodman's shooting effort was the best by a Hatter since Brian Pegg made all 8 field goals against Edward Waters on Nov. 14, 2014.
•Divine Myles crept closer to the 500 rebound plateau by grabbing two boards on Thursday. Myles, who is also chasing Stetson's all-time scoring record, needs just four more boards to become the 27th player in school history to reach 500.
•Luke Doyle made his 50th consecutive start on Thursday
•A win on Saturday will put the Hatters over .500. Stetson hasn't had a winning record this late into the season since the 2012-13 campaign.
•If Stetson wins Saturday the Hatters will open the ASUN season with a 2-1 record for the first time since 2011-12
