If the Hatters need a lesson on the importance of rebounding, they need to look no further than their first two conference games of the season.

In the loss at FGCU, Stetson grabbed a season-low 22 rebounds, including just five on the offensive glass which resulted in zero second chance points.

In the win against USC Upstate Saturday, the Hatters pulled in 44 rebounds, including 22 on the offensive end which the team converted into a season-high 16 second-chance points.

"We have emphasized it to say the least," Stetson head coach Lynn Bria said.  "It is something we have really emphasized and I feel like we should be a really good rebounding team.  I think our players have responded to that, but it is something we have emphasized all week."

During the final 10 minutes Saturday, Stetson outrebounded USC Upstate 11-5 and sealed the win on an offensive putback by Brittney Chambers with 40.1 seconds to go.

"I am trying to get on the offensive glass more," Chambers said after the game. "(Rebounding) is a big emphasis, so I am just going in strong, getting my own rebound if I don't finish the first time and putting it back in."

Stetson (10-8, 1-1 ASUN) will look to keep crashing the boards Monday afternoon as the Hatters host the NJIT Highlanders (2-15, 0-2).  Tip-off at the Edmunds Center is scheduled for 1 p.m. with live coverage on ESPN3 and WSBB radio.

The men will play the second game of the doubleheader against Bethune-Cookman at 4 p.m.

Stetson leads the all-time series 4-0 over NJIT. The Hatters won both meetings last season and held the Highlanders to just 40.0 ppg.

General admission tickets start at just $7 and can be purchased online (GoHatters.com/tix) or at the Edmunds Center box office.  Stetson students, faculty, and staff are admitted free with a valid ID.

Evan Weston and DeAsia Beal will call the action on ESPN3, while Luke Mauro will carry the broadcast on WSBB AM1230, AM1490, and online at myam1230.com.  Live stats, the Stetson women's basketball twitter feed (@StetsonWBB), and the HatCheck text messaging system will have live updates as well.
