Hatters Fall at FAU

Box Score Florida Atlantic defeated Stetson, 4-3, in women's tennis on Saturday in Boca Raton.
 
The Hatters (1-1) won the doubles point but managed just two singles victories as the Owls picked up the team win.
 
"We gave it everything we could today under some tough conditions and had a chance to pull off a comeback win but fell short," head coach Travis Sandlant said. "I think we will definitely learn from this experience and know we will be in a similar position in the future."
 
Lucie Renault and Brooke Milner opened doubles play with a 6-0 win at No. 2, and the Hatters clinched the point when the No. 3 team of Danel Ashirova and Maxine Bateman earned a 6-2 win.
 
Milner gave Stetson a 2-1 lead in the match with a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 6 singles, and Vicky Geurinckx gave the Hatters their other singles victory with a 3-6, 7-5, 6-4 victory at No. 3.
 
The Hatters next visit Lynn, 10 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 3.
