Hatters Visit NJIT Saturday

Stetson men's soccer resumes ASUN Conference play this weekend when the Hatters face NJIT, 3 p.m., Saturday in Newark, N.J.

The Hatters (5-6-1 overall, 0-1-1) are seeking their first conference win of the season. Stetson earned perhaps its most impressive win of the season on Tuesday when the Hatters blanked Georgia State, 3-0, in Atlanta. The Panthers entered the game among NCAA leaders in fewest goals allowed but they were no match for a Stetson attack which ranks third in the ASUN with 20 goals.

Lewis Scattergood, Gabriel Diniz and Erwan Colas each scored for the Hatters on Tuesday, and Braden Luna turned in the shutout in goal, his second of the season.

NJIT (5-7-0, 0-3-0) is also looking for its first ASUN victory. The Highlanders have lost their last six games, including a 2-1 setback last weekend at Liberty. Despite the losing streak, NJIT's Rene White is second in the conference with eight goals, and fourth overall with 18 points.

News & Notes: This is the third meeting between Stetson and NJIT all-time … the teams have split the previous meetings, with each winning on their home field … a win on Saturday gives the Hatters back-to-back wins for the first time since late August/early September against FIU and Bucknell … Erwan Colas needs four goals to become the first Hatter to reach double figures in a season since Jonathan Mendoza scored 11 in 2011.

Up Next: The Hatters return home to host Jacksonville, 7 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 17.
