Hatters Host Kennesaw State, NJIT on Final Home Weekend

Stetson women's soccer closes out the home portion of their 2018 schedule this weekend when the Hatters host ASUN Conference foes Kennesaw State, 7 p.m., Thursday, and NJIT, 1 p.m., Sunday. Both games will be played at the ATC. Thursday's game can be seen on ESPN3.

Sunday's game will also serve as Senior Day as the Hatters honor seniors Erin Avers, Emily Miller and Hailey Williams before they play in their final home contest.

The Hatters (3-7-3 overall, 0-3-1 ASUN) have lost their last three conference games and -- with just four ASUN contests remaining – likely need a successful weekend to keep their ASUN Tournament hopes alive.

Last weekend, the Hatters were shutout twice at home, falling to both Lipscomb (2-0) and North Alabama (1-0). Freshman goalkeeper Maggie Beatty turned in a strong effort for the Hatters, allowing just two goals making nine saves in 135 minutes.

Overall, Stetson's defense has been performing well, allowing just five goals in the last four games.

Kennesaw State (10-3-1, 3-1-0) is one of four teams tied atop the conference standings with nine points. The Owls swept Jacksonville (2-0) and North Florida (3-2) last weekend. Jenna Volrath leads the Owls with five goals and 11 points.

NJIT (9-3-1, 3-1-0) is enjoying one of its best season in the progam's history. The Highlanders are one of the four teams at the top of the conference standings, and last weekend swept both UNF (1-0) and JU (4-0). NJIT's Fiona Wright is second in the ASUN with eight goals.

News & Notes: Stetson is 5-7-2 all-time against Kennesaw State, and 2-1-0 against NJIT … Erin Avers, Hailey Williams and Emily Miller will be honored prior to the start of Sunday's game with NJIT … Avers and Williams are four-year letter winners while Miller is in her second season with the program … Stetson is scoreless in its last three games and hasn't scored since Lindsey parent's goal in 79th minute at North Florida on Sept. 21.
