Game Recap: Women's Soccer | | Athletic Communications

Hatters Blanked by Kennesaw State

Kennesaw State scored a pair of first-half goals to lead the Owls to a 2-0 win over Stetson in ASUN Conference play, Thursday at the Athletic Training Center.
 
The Owls (11-3-1, 4-1-0) struck early, getting a goal just two minutes into the game when Jenna Volrath scored from straight on at 15 yards. Erin Harris had the assist and KSU had a 1-0 lead.
 
Kendall Higgs made it a 2-0 advantage in the 34th minute, scoring on a thru ball from Isabella Contreras.
 
Stetson (3-8-3, 0-4-1) took 11 shots for the game but managed just two on-goal. Stetson keeper Emily Plotz made five saves as Kennesaw State took 15 shots.
 
Of Stetson's 11 shots, nine came in the second half when the Hatters were noticeably more aggressive offensively.
 
The Owls controlled play for much of the contest as evidenced by a 6-0 lead in corner kicks for the game. Owls' keeper Tiffany Sornpao made two saves.
 
Stetson concludes its 2018 home schedule on Sunday when the Hatters host ASUN-leading NJIT at 1 p.m. Seniors Erin Avers, Emily Miller and Hailey Williams will be honored in pregame ceremonies.
