Hatters Fall to Liberty On Senior Night

Rematch Looms Next Week in the ASUN tournament

DeLand, Fla. -- Victoria Baptista led the Flames with 14 kills as Liberty defeated Stetson 3-0 (25-23, 25-19, 25-15) in the regular season finale Thursday night at the Edmunds Center.

The Hatters fell to 16-12 overall and 8-8 in the ASUN, completing a hectic stretch of seven games in 14 days with a 4-3 mark. 

Julie Varga led the offense with six kills, and Chelcie Spence picked up 12 digs.  

Briana Schmid registered five blocks, putting her over the 100 mark for the season.  She and Hao Jin are the first Hatter tandem in 31 years to each record 100 blocks in the same season.

Stetson honored seniors Anna Bezhan, Charlotte Earnhart, Julie Varga and Hao Jin prior to the match.

The Hatters and Flames (14-15, 10-5) will meet again in the ASUN Quarterfinal on Nov. 15 at 5 p.m.  It will be Stetson's first postseason appearance since 2015.
