Hatters Open Final Home Stand Thursday Against Lipscomb

Stetson men's basketball opens a season-ending home stand when the Hatters host Lipscomb, 7 p.m., Thursday at Edmunds Center. The game will be streamed live on ESPN3 and can be heard locally on WSBB AM 1230 and 1490.

The Hatters will also host Kennesaw State (Feb. 17) and FGCU (Feb. 22) to close out the regular season. The ASUN Tournament begins Monday, Feb. 26 at campus sites around the conference.

As for Thursday's game, the Hatters (11-17, 3-8) have a real opportunity to build momentum as the postseason looms. Stetson snapped its eight-game losing streak on Saturday with an 84-80 win at NJIT.

All five starters scored in double figures as the Hatters raced out to an early 19-point lead and held on down the stretch thanks, in part, to series of big plays by senior guard Angel Rivera, who scored six of his 12 points in the final 4:33, including the game-winning basket with 8.7 seconds to play.

Lipscomb (17-9, 7-4) is trying to maintain its hold on the No. 2 seed for the ASUN Tournament. The Bisons currently hold a one-game lead over Jacksonville for second place behind FGCU, which clinched the ASUN regular-season title last weekend. Lipscomb, however, plays its final three games away from home.

News & Notes
•Thursday's game is the 34th all-time meeting between Stetson and Lipscomb, with the Bisons holding an 18-15 advantage in the series, including an 85-82 win in Nashville earlier this season.
•Luke Doyle is rapidly approaching two significant career milestones. The senior guard needs 33 points to reach 1,000 for his career, and he is also four 3-pointers shy of becoming Stetson's career leader. He enters play Thursday with 203 3-point field goals. He is only the 2nd player in school history with 200 3-pointers.
•Divine Myles is 14 assists shy of becoming the first player in ASUN Conference history with 1500 points, 500 rebounds, 500 assists and 150 steals in a career. He is also 43 points away from breaking Stetson's career scoring record.
•Myles is entering rarefied air on a national level as well. Since the start of the 1996-97 season, only 35 players across college basketball have reached totals of 1500 points, 500 rebounds and 500 assists (Stats, Inc./NCAA).
