Hatters Fall on Senior Night

Divine Myles became Stetson's all-time leading scorer on Thursday, but it wasn't enough to thwart a strong all-round effort by FGCU as the Eagles handed the Hatters a 76-60 setback in the ASUN Conference regular-season finale for both teams, at the Edmunds Center in DeLand.

FGCU's Brandon Goodwin led all scorers with 27 points and the Eagles (21-10, 12-2) stifled the Hatters' offensive attack to the tune of 35 percent shooting for the game.

Myles entered play with 1,822 career points and needed just five to pass Kerry Blackshear (1992-96) on the all-time list. After scoring four quick points to start the game, he had to wait to get the record.

A tough shooting first half for both teams led to 33-26 FGCU lead at halftime, and Stetson cut the deficit to 33-31, on a pair of free throws by Luke Doyle and an Anel Rivera 3-pointer. But FGCU answered with an 18-5 run over the next 4:50 for a 51-36 lead with 14:08 to play.

Myles finally got his record-breaking basket with a short jumper at 13:37 of the second half, but FGCU didn't blink and pushed the lead to 20 points when Goodwin's layup made it 62-42 with 10:09 to play.

The Eagles' lead eventually reached as much as 24 points (68-44) before the Hatters were able to make a dent down the stretch.

Myles finished with eight points on 3 of 10 shooting, snapping a streak of seven straight games in double figures. He now has 1,830 career points. Freshman Christiaan Jones led the Hatters with 11 points. He was the only Stetson player to reach double figures.

Christian Terrell scored 17 points and RaySean Johnson added 11 for FGCU.

The Hatters will serve as the No. 7 seed for the upcoming ASUN Tournament and will visit No. 2 seed Lipscomb on Monday in Nashville.
