Hatters Can't Get Over the Hump at UNF

Stetson's Luke Doyle and Divine Myles combined to score 44 points, but North Florida's 63.5 percent shooting proved to be the difference in an otherwise nip-and-tuck affair as Stetson dropped 97-91 decision to the Ospreys in ASUN Conference action, Saturday at UNF Arena.

UNF also used a key run in the first half to take control of the game. With the score tied a 21-21 with 12:13 left in the first half, UNF (11-15, 5-4) went on a 14-2 run over the next six minutes. When the run ended, Stetson was down 35-23 with 6:44 left before halftime. The Hatters never got closer than two points the rest of the way.

Though they never regained the lead, the Hatters kept UNF within reach the entire game. Stetson trailed by six or fewer points on 34 consecutive possessions over the game's final 12:36. But every time Stetson got close, the Ospreys would answer with a basket or a free throws to keep the Hatters at bay.

Myles finished 11 of 16 from the field, while Doyle was 8 of 15 with a pair of 3-pointers, reaching 200 treys in his career in the process. B.J. Glasford scored 14 points and Angel Rivera chipped in with 11 and four assists.

Wajid Aminu led UNF with 20 points and 13 rebounds.

Quoting Coach Williams
"It's frustrating to me because we haven't been able to get over the hump. I told the guys that when I look at the totality of the game we played well offensively, but they scored too many points. When an opponent shoots 63 percent from the field, that's tough. The energy was good, the guys were ready to play. You just have to keep building on the energy and take it on the road next week."
