Hatters Rally to Win Twice on Friday

Tallahassee, Fla. -- No. 15 Stetson posted two come-from-behind victories on the first day of the FSU Invitational, defeating St. Petersburg College 3-1 and the College of Charleston 3-2 Friday afternoon at the FSU Sand Volleyball Courts.

With the victories, the Hatters improved to 3-3 on the season.

Stetson's top three seeds led the way, going a perfect 6-0 in their matches to account for all six of the Hatters' points on the day.

At the 2 seed, ASUN Pair of the Week Darby Dunn and Sammee Thomas became the decisive match against the College of Charleston. After taking the first set 21-11 and falling 21-18 in set 2, Dunn and Thomas dominated the third set 15-5 to clinch the victory for the Hatters.

Stetson had trailed Charleston 2-0 after the 4 and 5 seeds played.

At the 3 seed, Samantha Harris and Rachel Noble defeated Charleston's Kennedy Madison and Riana Brennan 21-14, 22-20 to put Stetson on the board. At the 1 seed, Sunniva Helland-Hansen and Carly Perales defeated Charleston's 1 seed in straight sets, 21-10, 22-11 to tie the match 2-2.

Helland-Hansen and Perales won 21-18, 24-22 vs. St. Petersburg's 1 seed earlier in the day, while Harris and Noble won 21-13, 21-17 over St. Petersburg's 3 seed.

Dunn and Thomas also posted a 21-18, 18-21, 15-11 three-set victory over St. Petersburg's 2 seed.

The Hatters will continue play at the FSU Invitational Saturday against No. 11 FIU and No. 4 Florida State.
