Sammee Thomas, Darby Dunn Named ASUN Pair of the Week

Hatter 1 seed goes 6-1 on the week

DeLand, Fla. -- For the second time this season, junior Sammee Thomas (Huntington Beach, Calif.) and sophomore Darby Dunn (South Surrey, B.C.) have been named the ASUN Beach Volleyball Pair of the Week, the league announced on Tuesday.

Dunn and Thomas went 6-1 for the week at the 1 seed, winning 13 out of 15 sets. On Wednesday, they defeated the 1 seed from FGCU twice in straight sets including a victory in the first match that proved to be the deciding point in Stetson's 3-2 conference win.

The duo then went 4-1 on the Hatters' weekend trip to Arizona, posting a 2-0 win over the 1 seed from 15th-ranked Arizona on Friday. They also defeated 1 seeds from Arizona State, Colorado Mesa and Vanguard in straight sets. Their lone loss on the week came to No. 14 California by the slimmest of margins, 15-21, 21-13, 13-15.

Dunn earns her fifth career ASUN Pair of the Week honor, while Thomas earns her second ASUN weekly honor. They are 25-6 in duals this season.

The Hatters (23-8) are ranked 17th in the AVCA College Beach Poll and will face UNF and Jacksonville on Friday and Saturday in Estero, Fla.
