Volleyball Adds Lindsey Leipold and Alejandra Perez

DeLand, Fla. -- Stetson University volleyball head coach Yang Deng announced the addition Wednesday of Lindsey Leipold (Clarence, N.Y.) and Alejandra Perez (Ponce, Puerto Rico) to the program for 2018.

Leipold, a 5-6 libero/setter, earned all-county, all-area, and All-State honors as a senior at Clarence High School. She helped lead her team to a 20-4 record and a section championship for the third year in a row. She was a three-year starter and was named a scholar athlete every year.

"Lindsey is a great team player," Deng said. "She is going to help us build the culture that we want our program to have. She has the unique ability to play defensive libero and set, and she will have an opportunity at both positions."

Perez, a 5-8 outside hitter, competed for Colegio del Sagrado Corazón de Jesús in Ponce, Puerto Rico and for Guaynabo Volleyball Academy. She was named a Puerto Rico Volleyball Showcase All Star in 2018 and a National Volleyball Association All Star in 2016. She was also a three-time Jeep Volleyball Championship All Star and a two-time MVP.

"Alejandra is very smart and understands the game very well," Deng said. "She is a solid all-around player and is a good student, as is Lindsey. Alejandra will have a great opportunity to compete as a freshman."

Leipold and Perez join Emily DeStaffino as Stetson newcomers for 2018.
